Location: Glazer Children's Museum

The Crack the Code Challenge is one of the four STEMpalooza competitions.  Each school may send 1 Crack the Code Challenge team (both intermediate and primary), consisting of 4 students.  Those students are to be a combination of 4th and/or 5th grade students for "intermediate" teams and combination of 2nd and/or 3rd grade students for "primary."

If students will be competing in more than one STEMpalooza event, it is the school's responsibility to schedule their event dates and times as to not overlap another competition.  Keep in mind that different events may have various start/end times and how this will affect student supervision at the venue.

This challenge will be a custom STEM based puzzle challenge making use of the Breakout EDU lock and case set.  Students will solve Math and Science based puzzles/problems/tasks to gain clues to unlock the case(s) in a given time limit.  Students will be pushed to work as a team and use their STEM knowledge to solve the puzzles!

Awards will be given based on different levels of achievement (such as number of cases opened or number of locks unlocked).

It is not necessary to purchase the Breakout EDU kit for your students to compete.  If they can solve math and science puzzles they will be prepared!  Click here for sample Crack the Code challenge problems used at a mock STEMpalooza.
